Typically, highly doped Er:YAG, about 50% Yttrium atoms replaced by Erbium, is used as laser medium for 2940 nm wavelength. Due to the strong water and human body fluid absorption at this wavelength. Er:YAG laser has a wide dental and medical applications.

Description

Erbium-doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (Er:YAG) is a pale green crystal with various output wavelength. Typically, highly doped Er:YAG, about 50% Yttrium atoms replaced by Erbium, is used as laser medium for 2940 nm wavelength. Due to the strong water and human body fluid absorption at this wavelength, Er:YAG laser has a wide dental and medical applications. For example, low doped Er:YAG, about (0.1~1)% Yttrium atoms replaced, plays an efficient role in generating high power 1600 nm 'eye-safe' laser. The excellent optical and mechanical properties and a wide pump band of 600~800 nm make Er:YAG an ideal laser crystal.
